If you’re running Fedora with the KDE Plasma desktop and only have the root user, here’s how to set up automatic login.

Step 1: Create the Auto Login Configuration File

Open a terminal and run:

sudo nano /etc/sddm.conf.d/autologin.conf

Step 2: Add the Following Configuration

Paste the exact lines below into the file:

[Autologin]
User=root
Session=plasma.desktop
Relogin=false

Step 3: Save and Exit

  • Press Ctrl + O to save
  • Press Enter to confirm the filename
  • Press Ctrl + X to exit nano

Step 4: Reboot Your System

reboot

After the reboot, Fedora KDE should automatically log you in as the root user.

Alternative Method (Using GUI)

  1. Open System Settings
  2. Go to Appearance & Style → Login Screen (SDDM)
  3. Click on the Behavior tab
  4. Check the box for Automatically log in
  5. Select root from the user list
  6. Apply the changes

Reboot to test if auto login works.
